Replicated Content Manangement
The Emageon Replicated Content Management (RCM) solution is a powerful part of your comprehensive Business Continuance Plan. RCM goes beyond data replication at the storage array level, as offered by hardware storage vendors, and provides data replication at the application level. While a hardware storage-based replication may be good for IT, it falls short for radiologists who need to access, view, complete reports and upload images, even during a downtime. In the event of a downtime, users still need to be able to access images through the PACS application.
RCM Benefits Include:
- Replication and Independent verification of DICOM Data. Each node in the RCM environment performs independent data validation. This greatly reduces the risk of invalid DICOM data and duplication of file system corruption
- Capacity Beyond Storage Level Replication. While storage level replication technically does provide a second copy of the data, it does not allow for access to that data. In that environment, application servers donβt exist at the secondary copy and would have to be installed before access and user-service could be restored
- Reduced Administration Overhead. Changes made to studies on one RCM node are automatically duplicated on the replicated node. This eliminates the need to perform manual edits on both systems. As an added safety measure, deletions are never duplicated
- Reduced Dependency on Tape Backup. Recover of data is much more efficient and reliable from disk than from a tape based backup. Many sites discontinue the use of a tape based backup once Emageon RCM is implemented
- Increased Processing Capacity. The addition of a second independent system in an Emageon RCM environment provides the ability balance the load of multiple sites or groups of user
